What is an ISO tank?

ISO tanks are reusable steel tanks that can carry both hazardous and non-hazardous materials. They are shaped in horizontal cylinders and have an external framework of a box for ocean shipments. ISO tanks are reusable but the can cost you more in the long run.  Liquid disposable totes are more convenient than ISO tanks.  The disposable liquid containers saves fuel by cutting out empty back haul moves associated with ISO tanks.

Reusable ISO tanks need to be sterilized and tested before a new product is placed inside. With disposable liquid transport containers, you are always working with a fresh container and completely eliminate any chance of cross contamination.

Bulk liquid containers are only used once so they are far less likely to contaminate your product. This improves product quality compared to an ISO tank.  If you have to transport an ISO tank from one country to another, there will be expensive return freight of the empty ISO tank back to the point of origin.  

Specialized vs. Standardized Equipment for Transportation

ISO tanks need additional equipment in trucks for safe transport.
